Rainbow Drive-In

Located near one of the roughest parts of Greenville, Rainbow Drive-In has been known as a Furman hangout in the past.  Now, though, Furman students will barely notice Rainbow Drive-In,  However, their low prices and “college friendly” menu fare are just the ticket for hungry and poor Furmanites.  Most of the menu consists of sandwiches and burgers, but with some original recipes, like sliced chicken with oregano and balsamic vinegar. The wait staff was a bit slow, mainly due to their inability to serve the many customers with the number of people working.   They were apologetic for the delay, and the waitress even confided to our table that she didn’t have a thyroid! Even though our food took a while to get to us, we enjoyed looking at everything hanging on the wall, depicting history and life in Greenville and the Upstate.

I’ve heard that the milkshakes at Rainbow Drive-In are great and you can certainly find something on the menu that will suit your tastebuds and your stomach.  Its worth a try, if for nothing else, for the history of the place.
